What is the biodiesel?
Biodiesel is the name of an alternative fuel of clean burn produced from domestic renewable resources.
Biodiesel Process
The biodiesel is done with a chemical process called transesterification in which the glycerin is separated from the fats and vegetal oil.
What are the resulting products?
The process generates two products - Metil esters (biodiesel chemical name) and the glycerin, as sub product sold to be used in soaps and other cosmetic products.
Where is used in?
The biodiesel can be used in ignition - compression engines with a few or none modifications.
What are the biodiesel components?
The biodiesel does not have petroleum, but can be mixed in any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend.
The single alternative fuel that can be used directly in any diesel motor without any modification is the biodiesel.

Researching and Development

We know the importance of being at the technology cutting edge in the energy industry; in a changing world as we live it is necessary to implement new energy sources that work in proper relationship with the environment and that maintains high performance levels.

In Odin Energy Corporation we are committed with it, this is why we are running an investment project in our operations center in Santa Marta, Colombia, which consist in the construction of a mixing unit diesel-biodiesel to produce biofuels in different percentages. To identify the mixes are used abbreviated notations according to the biodiesel volume contained in the blending: B100 in case to use only biodiesel and other notations as B5, B15, B20, B50, where the number indicates the volume percentage present in the mix.

Through our company Odin Grupo de Energía S.A., we are progressing in the expansion of the production capacity of its plants which represents the key complement to the biofuel mixing business. The petroleum diesel produced by Odin Petroil S.A.’s refinery and the biodiesel from palm oil elaborated by Odin Energy Santa Marta Corporation S.A., are the fuels to be used in the mixing that Odin Energy Corporation will perform. This company also funds the procurement of raw material to the processing of these two refineries.

This macro project that has required the use of high technology and expert personnel, will enable us to offer our customers excellent quality products, diversify our offer by introducing new choices of biodegradable fuels and optimize our operational processes, with which we will be more competitive in the national and international energy market.
