• What is the biodiesel?
Biodiesel is the name of an alternative fuel of clean burn produced from domestic renewable resources.
  • Biodiesel Process
The biodiesel is done with a chemical process called transesterification in which the glycerin is separated from the fats and vegetal oil.
  • What are the resulting products?
The process generates two products - Metil esters (biodiesel chemical name) and the glycerin, as sub product sold to be used in soaps and other cosmetic products.
  • Where is used in?
The biodiesel can be used in ignition - compression engines with a few or none modifications.
  • What are the biodiesel components?
The biodiesel does not have petroleum, but can be mixed in any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend.

  • The single alternative fuel that can be used directly in any diesel motor without any modification is the biodiesel.
Diesel - Biodiesel Mixtures

Diesel - Biodiesel Mixtures

Biodiesel can be used in the transportation and the industry in pure form as B100 or blended with petroleum diesel in any proportion, in this way is consumed by private, cargo and passengers vehicles.

Biodiesel can be blended with diesel from petroleum refining in different quantities, due to their similar chemical properties. To identify the mixtures are used shorthand notation according to the volume percentage of biodiesel in the blend: B100 if it is used only biodiesel and other notations such as B5, B15, B20, B50, where the number indicates the percentage by volume of biodiesel present in the mixture.

It is considered appropriate to use the mixture in conventional diesel engines because of the improvements in air quality by minimizing emissions to the atmosphere, the reduction of sulfur content and also, contributes to supply the growing demand for fuel and diesel.

Diesel Blended with 4% of Biodiesel (B4)

Biodiesel can be blended with diesel fuel from oil refining in different quantities, because of its similarity in chemical characteristics. The B4 is a mixture prepared by adding to the diesel oil a 4% of biodiesel.

Uses:

This fuel is used in the same applications of petrodiesel, D2 diesel, fuel oil or diesel fuel (ACPM). With the benefit of reducing of pollution in the fuel and its emissions, and improve petrodiesel lubricity in low sulfur content. The B4 can be the basis for the preparation of mixtures with higher biodiesel percentage.
